Singapore | Managing Director of Intellectual Property Tony Yeo quoted in Asia IP article on differences between a regular blocking injunction and dynamic injunction
Managing Director of Intellectual Property Tony Yeo shared his views with Asia IP on regular blocking injunction and dynamic injunction as legal solutions for copyright owners against copyright infringing content on the internet. Apart from elaborating on the differences between the two types of injunctions, he also highlighted that regular blocking injunctions and dynamic injunctions can work in tandem. Tony cited the case, Disney Enterprises, Inc. and others v. M1 Limited and others [2018] SGHC 206, where the Singapore High Court granted both injunctions.
Sharing the downside of the two blocking injunctions, Tony was quoted saying “they only target websites and do not prevent the availability of infringing content on other platforms. The English High Court has gone even further, ordering a “live” blocking order against streaming servers that transmit infringing content”, citing the case of The Football Association Premier League Limited v. British Telecommunications Plc and others [2017] EWHC 480.
