Wesley’s practice focuses on complex civil litigation and arbitration.

He has an active practice in local and cross-border disputes involving commercial contracts, shareholders’ rights, trusts, tort, construction, white collar crime and defamation.

Wesley has acted for governments, multinational corporations, financial institutions and high-net-worth individuals at all levels of the Singapore Courts and in international arbitration, and often manages related proceedings in the United States of America, England, British Virgin Islands, India and China.

In 2022, Wesley was seconded to the New York office of Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP, where he handled complex civil litigation and arbitration matters including class action suits and investor-state arbitration.

Wesley graduated on the overall Dean’s List from the National University of Singapore, and is a tutor for the Singapore Institute of Legal Education’s Preparatory Course leading to Part B of the Singapore Bar Examinations.

Some of the matters which Wesley has acted in include:

  1. Lead counsel in S$30M shareholding dispute - Acted as lead counsel for a senior executive of an advanced manufacturing company in a S$30M dispute involving allegations of unfair prejudice and breaches of shareholders’ agreements. 

  2. Cross-border dispute involving criminal allegations - Successfully obtained judgment for an international gas and energy consultancy and its director-shareholder against a Turkish energy conglomeration, in a dispute involving allegations of suspected criminal activity including terrorism and money laundering.

  3. S$20M shipping and oil & gas litigation - Successfully obtained judgment for an environmental-services arm of a Singapore-listed entity in a S$20M dispute over claims under contracts relating to oil trading, charter hire and waste disposal plant operations.

  4. US$30M SIAC arbitration - Acted for a multinational electronics manufacturer and successfully resisted a US$30M SIAC arbitration claim from its minority shareholders, involving allegations of unfair prejudice and related proceedings in the Bangalore National Company Law Tribunal.

  5. Investor-State dispute - Advised a State in resisting claims under a Bilateral Investment Treaty, involving allegations of denials of justice arising out of the State’s judicial and executive actions.

  6. Landlord-Tenant dispute - Struck out a S$20M claim by a tenant in breach of contract and misrepresentation on behalf of a Singapore integrated resort, and successfully discharged two injunctions that prevented the landlord from repossessing the premises.
