Singapore | Applicability of the simplified process to resolve an IP dispute

Part 2 of the Supreme Court of Judicature (Intellectual Property) Rules 2022 provides that certain intellectual property disputes may be resolved in court pursuant to a simplified process which prioritises speed and cost-proportionality. Tiger Pictures Entertainment Ltd v Encore Films Pte LtdĀ [2023] SGHC 138 is the first reported case which invokes the simplified process.

In this update, Directors Tony Yeo, Yvonne Tang, Lim Siau Wen and Meryl Koh take a closer look at the simplified process and discuss the conditions which must be satisfied before the court may grant an application that a dispute be resolved pursuant to the simplified process.
