The International Comparative Legal Guide to Lending & Secured Finance 2021 – Singapore chapter by Drew & Napier

Head of Drew & Napier's Banking & Finance Practice Group, Pauline Chong, and Deputy Head Renu Menon, as well as Directors Blossom Hing and Ong Ken Loon co-authored the Singapore chapter in the International Comparative Legal Guide to Lending & Secured Finance 2021 that was recently published by Global Legal Group Ltd, London.

They provided a comprehensive overview and analysis of common issues in lending and secured finance laws and regulations in Singapore, with practical insight into guarantees, various forms of collateral security that can be taken over different types of assets and the perfection steps required, syndicated financing and financial assistance issues. The chapter also touches on withholding, stamp and other taxes applicable to financing transactions, and the judicial enforcement and insolvency regime under Singapore law. Given the pandemic situation, this year’s chapter also discusses the impact of COVID-19 on transactions from a practical perspective including document execution, delivery requirements and mechanics and how this is dealt with in Singapore.
