Singapore | A Query Letter from IRAS ― What’s next?
The Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (“IRAS”) routinely sends query letters to businesses for various reasons, ranging from seeking simple clarifications to obtaining information as part of a tax investigation.
In this update, Siok Peng shares her expertise on the intricacies of tax audits and investigations, which can often be a time of great stress and anxiety. The update provides taxpayers a better understanding of how they can better deal with queries from the IRAS. This update is the first of a four part series providing insight into the various aspects of tax audits and investigations and how best to deal with encounters with the tax authority.

Siok Peng’s primary area of practice is helping clients resolve their issues relating to tax audits and investigations by the IRAS. With the belief that every taxpayer should be treated fairly even if they may have infringed the tax laws, she draws on her wealth of experience from more than 2 decades with the IRAS, of which 6 years were in the Investigation and Forensics Division, to guide her clients through the process of resolving matters with the IRAS in an expeditious and amicable manner.
