Kelly practices commercial litigation and arbitration. She has handled a diverse range of matters including matters relating to complex commercial contracts, trust disputes, and director / shareholder disputes. She has significant experience in these matters across various industries, such as private equity, banking and finance, hospitality, and retail. In the 2019 edition of Benchmark Litigation Asia-Pacific, Kelly was described as “meticulous and insightful”, and “extremely driven and indefatigable”.

Kelly graduated from the National University of Singapore with a LLB (Hons) degree in 2016. During her time in university, she participated in the Oxford International Intellectual Property Moot 2016 held in Oxford University, where she was ranked 5th best speaker overall. Her team also emerged as quarter-finalists of the competition and was awarded best written submissions.

Some of the notable cases which Kelly has acted in include:

  1. Securing a US$926 million judgment for a former Prime Minister of Georgia against Credit Suisse Trust – Successfully acted for Bidzina Ivanishvili, a former Prime Minister of Georgia, and his family in proceedings before the Singapore International Commercial Court against Credit Suisse Trust Limited for breach of trust leading to losses in an investment portfolio worth over US$1 billion.

  2. Billion-dollar fraudulent trading case in Singapore – Currently representing the liquidators of Hin Leong Trading (Pte.) Ltd in a claim against the company’s directors for fraudulent trading and breach of directors’ duties, seeking recovery of over US$3.5 billion.

  3. Successfully resisted an application for injunctions to restrain a share transfer and obtained an award of indemnity costs – Successfully acted for a Singapore venture capital firm, its related entity in the Cayman Islands, and its directors and shareholders, in resisting an application for injunctions to restrain a share transfer filed by a Swiss fund management company, and obtained an award of indemnity costs.

  4.  Acting for a hotel management conglomerate in SIAC arbitration proceedings against an Indonesian hotel owner – Currently representing a hotel management conglomerate in a claim against an Indonesian hotel owner for various breaches of a hotel management agreement.

  5. Acted for an integrated resort in Singapore High Court and SIAC arbitration proceedings against a Chinese businessman – This case involved claims that there were unauthorised withdrawals and transfers of monies. It attracted significant media attention both locally and globally.
