Boon Yeow’s main areas of practice are Technology, Media & Telecommunications (TMT), Broadcasting, Cybersecurity, Data Protection & Privacy, and Employment Law.

Boon Yeow frequently advises leading global and local telecommunications and broadcasting operators on corporate, commercial, licensing and regulatory issues.

Prior to joining Drew & Napier, Boon Yeow served in the public service as a legal counsel on an overseas scholarship, where he advised on a broad range of contentious and non-contentious issues.

Boon Yeow was also seconded to the Civil Division at the Attorney-General’s Chambers where he worked on a wide range of civil matters.

Some of the matters that Boon Yeow has handled include the following:

  • Engaged by a national authority to assist with the development and implementation of a new regulatory framework arising from a nationwide liberalisation of the postal sector.
  • Advised multiple multi-national technology companies on telecommunication and broadcasting licensing requirements concerning cutting-edge products and new functions.
  • Advised a Chinese social media company on rolling out services in Singapore, including drafting the full set of requisite personal data protection-related documents.
  • Advised multiple multi-national clients on cybersecurity licensing requirements concerning cutting-edge cybersecurity products.
  • Successfully assisted a leading global data centre operator with securing an exemption from IMDA for a key regulatory requirement for the operation of data centres.
