Belle handles complex, high-value commercial litigation and arbitration matters. She has represented and advised clients across various sectors, including multinational corporations and high net-worth individuals, in contentious matters involving fraud, shareholder disputes, cross-border enforcement, investigations, and criminal proceedings. Belle also regularly represents clients in arbitration-related court proceedings, including the securing and discharge of injunctions and the enforcement and challenge of arbitral awards.
Belle graduated from the National University of Singapore with an LL.B (Hons) degree in 2019 and was placed on the Dean’s List during her time at university. She attained two distinctions in the Singapore Bar Examinations (Civil Litigation Practice and Wills, Probate & Administration Practice modules) and was ranked joint 6th in her cohort.
- US$3.5 billion corporate fraud litigation: Acted for Hin Leong’s liquidators in the largest reported fraudulent trading case in Singapore, in which the liquidators successfully secured a judgment of the full claimed sum of US$3.5 billion from the directors of the company after a 51-day trial involving more than 60 witnesses.
- US$70 million dispute against former employees: Successfully represented the Singapore subsidiary of a multi-million-dollar shipping and mining conglomerate against a claim by its former employees for more than US$70 million in unpaid profit shares. The claim was dismissed in its entirety on the last day of trial.
- Discharge of US$730 million freezing injunction: Acted for a multinational biotechnology company and its founder in an application before the Singapore International Commercial Court to discharge a worldwide freezing injunction over assets of up to US$730 million each in support of an US$860 million ICC arbitration claim brought by a Danish pharmaceutical giant over an allegedly failed hypertension drug.
- Directors’ duties: Advised the independent directors of a leading local insurance company on their duties to the company, shareholders and policyholders, in a controversial proposed merger and takeover by a foreign insurance company.
- Enforcement of Arbitral Award: Acting for a major technology company in the enforcement of a HKIAC arbitral award exceeding US$200 million against a former collaborator, obtaining a Mareva injunction against the respondent and securing the seizure and sale of his million-dollar Sentosa property.
