Brandon is a counsel and advisor in complex international disputes, specializing in commercial and investment treaty arbitration.

He has a particular focus on disputes arising from the financial and technology sectors, and has represented both private and sovereign clients in arbitrations under most major institutional rules. Brandon is qualified in both Singapore and England & Wales, and has broad experience with cases governed by both common and civil law systems across Asia, the Americas, and Europe. He also appears at all levels of the Singapore courts and has managed cross-border litigation matters for clients in jurisdictions including the US and South Korea.

Brandon has particular expertise in Korea-related matters, having previously been based in Seoul with a GAR 30 ranked international law firm. Bilingual in English and Chinese, and conversant in Korean, he has a growing practice in the East Asia region.

Some of the noteworthy matters Brandon has acted in include the following:

  1. Counsel for one of the world’s largest nuclear power companies in a multi-billion dollar arbitration against a major Asian energy authority over the proprietary licensing rights of nuclear reactor technology.
  2. Counsel to a Southeast Asian state in ICSID arbitration proceedings against Chinese state-owned companies in relation to a major hydropower plant.
  3. Counsel to a major Asian energy authority in multi-billion dollar parallel arbitrations against its subsidiary contractors and Middle Eastern project owner over a nuclear power plant in Abu Dhabi.
  4. Counsel to a major German industrial conglomerate in ICC arbitration against the defence procurement agency of an Asian state, relating to the procurement and delivery of next-generation military platforms and associated defence technologies.
  5. Represented a group of bondholders in the Asia-Pacific region against the Swiss Confederation in investor-state proceedings over the Swiss financial regulatory authority’s decision to write down US$17 billion worth of Additional Tier-One bonds issued by a major bank.
