Clarissa is a disputes lawyer with experience across complex commercial litigation, investigations, and advisory work. She has acted for a diverse range of clients, including international banks, government authorities, liquidators, and corporate parties, in high-value and technically demanding matters.

Clarissa's practice spans a broad range of disputes, from large-scale fraud and financial misconduct to auditor liability, capital markets, and construction and infrastructure projects. She has represented clients in some of the largest and most complex matters in Singapore, including the largest reported civil suit commenced in Singapore. Her work frequently involves novel and unsettled points of law, requiring her to develop creative legal arguments in the absence of established precedent.

Beyond pure legal analysis, Clarissa is experienced in engaging with complex technical and expert evidence across a range of fields, including engineering, cryptocurrency, and financial systems. She is known for her ability to deliver commercially sound, strategically driven solutions tailored to her clients' broader business objectives.

  • Represented the liquidators overseeing the collapse of one of the largest oil trading companies in the world in a US$3.5 billion claim against its directors for fraud. This is the largest reported civil suit commenced in Singapore, involving over 60 witnesses. The litigation involved manipulation of accounts, fictitious revenue and forgery of documents.
  • Advised various clients on domestic and cross-border shareholder disputes and corporate control matters, including hostile takeovers and board restructuring, successfully delivering strategic solutions tailored to clients' business objectives.
  • Advised a client on legal issues arising from the failure of a critical infrastructure cooling system, involving complex engineering matters and engagement with expert witnesses on root cause analysis.
  • Advised and represented accused persons in a range of criminal matters involving offences under the Penal Code, the Road Traffic Act, and the Securities and Futures Act. Helped clients obtain reduction or withdrawal of charges and lighter sentences
  • Acting for an oil trading company in a US$2.7 billion claim against its former auditors for failing to detect misstatements in the audited financial statements; one of the largest auditor liability claims of its kind, raising novel questions of law on causation and the extent of auditor responsibility.
