Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore are countries on the One Belt One Road Initiative (BRI) roadmap and expect to benefit greatly from the initiative. For this reason, our Regional China Desk provides cross-border legal services that tap on the surge in outbound and inbound economic opportunities that arise in the wake of the BRI for the foreseeable future.
Our longstanding involvement in a wide range of high-profile China-related international transactions throughout the course of China’s rise to the second largest economy in the world, has allowed us to cultivate a broad base of substantial and significant Chinese clients. Our multidisciplinary China practice has acquired extensive experience in handling complex cross-border transactions, steeped in an understanding and appreciation of the Chinese cultural trappings inherent in such work.
Over many years, we have developed close working relationships with several State-Owned Enterprises (“SOE”) in the People’s Republic of China, having advised many PRC SOE and PRC private enterprises over the last 20 years and some of them on a retainer basis.
We have a diverse portfolio of expertise spanning the full spectrum of legal services including traditional core areas like foreign investment, financing, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, private client services, private wealth planning, cross-border litigation, arbitration, construction, reconstruction, taxation and intellectual property to emerging legal sectors like anti-trust, competition, cryptocurrencies, life sciences, media and technology, compliance and investigations.
